William Cooper Design is a company dedicated to providing comprehensive Interior Design and Interior Architectural services, distinguished in creativity and uncompromising in quality.

Since our beginning, William Cooper Design has specialized in the design of large scale, complex residential and hospitality projects.  Our success is based on a combination of creative talent and professional teamwork, allied with sound business techniques, and a sophisticated computer technology system.  We believe strongly in working with a team of experts, from Architects, Landscape Architects, Mechanical /Electrical Engineers, Structural Engineers, Lighting Designers, Media Technology, and any others appropriate to the complexity of each project.

William Cooper Design places great importance on building a relationship with each client.  We enjoy getting to know each client’s lifestyle, likes and dislikes, and personality.  We use this information along with the special character of each home and location, landscape, and any other appropriate features to both enhance and respect the qualities of any given project.  An important part of our philosophy is a dedication to what is appropriate for the way the client lives and the architectural quality of the interiors in respecting the style of the home and its surroundings.

Drawing from experience, we use many sources both locally and nationally to provide the furniture, fabrics, artwork, antiques, and finishes for each project.  Every project is different and therefore each project is not confined to any one particular style.  William Cooper Design is always mindful of the architectural style, project schedule, and budget.

WILLIAM COOPER

William Cooper holds degrees in both Architecture and Interior Design.  Bill’s interest in Architecture led him to move to California in 1984 to work with a prominent Architectural/Engineering/Landscape firm on the San Francisco peninsula.  His work included large corporate campus building and interior design, manufacturing buildings, retail-mixed use projects in downtown Palo Alto, and a large Athletic facility in Redwood City.

In 1991 Bill’s interest in Interior Design and Interior Architecture led him to San Francisco where he has been the designer for Bank of America, Merrill Lynch, Salomon Brothers, Visa, Sony, Santa Clara University, and many others.

For the last 8 years Bill’s work has been exclusively residential design.  He has completed large-scale homes in San Francisco, Atherton, Hillsborough, and Portola Valley, along with numerous smaller projects that do not include an entire home.  His clients have also included residential senior housing projects in San Francisco, and Palo Alto.  Some of the more unusual and exciting projects have included yacht interior design and airplane interior design for a client in Atherton.

Bill’s knowledge of furniture history and finishes lend his designs a timeless quality.  He likes to combine fine period furniture pieces with exceptional contemporary furniture and artwork.  However each design is unique to the Client and their home.  He is committed to excellence and appropriateness that transcends style, period, and fashion.
